ABOUT ME (KATHLEEN HINKEL) It's an honor to have you here at my website considering me as your wedding photographer. I live in Chicago with my wife Amanda, our cat Sugar and our fourteen wonderful houseplants. As a photographer with twenty years of professional experience, I'm grateful for the many experiences the camera has given me to tell people's stories. I offer documentary-style wedding photography packages for those looking for a wedding photographer that takes a candid approach to capturing your wedding. My career started in documentary photography and the way I approach shooting weddings is the same way I approach a photojournalism assignment or documentary photography project - I tell the story of your wedding day through unplanned, unposed images. While my emphasis is on capturing less scripted moments - photographing traditional portraits and detail shots st the event are still an essential part of my day. My work in photojournalism, travel and sports photography has been published worldwide and can be seen on my other website at kathleenhinkel.com. 

ABOUT THE DANCE FLOOR It's always my preference to start shooting early and stay late in order to capture EVERYTHING. I like to start when the wedding party excitedly begins to get ready and stay till the bitter end - when Aunt Mildred is the lone wolf on the dance floor spinning to Gloria Gaynor or something like that. I love to bop my head and shake my hips while photographing the dance floor. From a practical perspective this helps me blend with the crowd and get better photographs but more honestly, I do this because I love to dance. 

ABOUT LOVE A genuine curiosity for life and a love of people is what initially drew me to photojournalism. As a photojournalist, I've been privileged to be repeatedly invited into people's lives for snippets of time in order to tell a story with my camera. Photojournalism at its best honors our lives and all the unpredictability that comes along with them. My aim for photographing your wedding is to celebrate it through images that reflect love and spontaneity. I believe our ability to give and receive love is one of the greatest fundamental gifts we have as humans and I want my wedding photography to celebrate that belief.
